Gay Husband + Gay Wife = Happy Ending
After 20 years of marriage, Kat Kaufman began to come to terms with the fact that she was gay. It wasn't an easy realization. She loved her husband, David, and considered him to be her best friend. They had children and a quality life they built together. However, she decided it was time to sit down and let him know the truth.
In a rather shocking turn of events, she confessed her feelings --expecting her husband to be shocked to find out his wife is gay. Instead, Kat received a shock of her own when David breathed a sigh of relief and confessed that he, too, is gay! This is one gay spouse story that has a happy ending.
Do you suspect your spouse is gay?
Unfortunately, not all gay spouse stories have a happy ending. Most of the time, it takes a considerable toll on a and individual-- and the family--when it turns out a spouse is gay. As Los Angeles private investigators ,we have worked our fair share of surveillance cases to catch a cheating spouse. And, at the end of the day, our clients feel better having the evidence they need to make decisions, take control of their own lives, and create a new type of future for themselves.
What do I do when I find out my husband or wife is gay?
This question is important to answer before you begin your investigation. That doesn't mean you will feel the same after you have proof, but your answers can help to chart a more clear path ahead for you. Bonnie Kaye has become an expert on gay husbands. She recently spoke with our owner, and lead investigator, Mike Garroutte, about what a woman should do if she suspects her husband is gay, and as she moves through the process of finding out the truth. The information is also applicable if you suspect your wife is a lesbian. You can read our blog and listen to the radio interview with Mike HERE.
It is important that you:
- Don't let on you know. Never let on you are suspicious or that you are investigating their behavior. This is a sure way to change their behavior, or force them to become even more secretive, which can make it harder for you to find out the truth. If you have already questioned them, and they denied it. Back off, return to life as usual, and then make an appointment with a surveillance investigator to determine your next step.
- Background Check. It might be worth it to conduct a background check to see if there are things in your spouse's past you were unaware of, or if there are properties or investments they have on the side or share with someone else. Accurate background checks can help you to take steps to secure your financial future.
- Asset Searches. An asset search is another tool that can help you to see where you stand financially, or to look for evidence of financial infidelity. Asset searches may turn up credit cards or lines of credit you never knew your spouse had access to.
- Talk to a family law attorney. Make sure you discuss your situation with family law attorney. Attorneys know exactly how to move from Point A to Point B in terms of alimony, child support, and other private custody issues. If you feel you or your children's safety is in question, an attorney and a child custody private investigator can work together to make sure you have the evidence and/or documentation you need to make a strong case in court.
Most cases of undercover gay husbands or lesbian wives do not wrap up all nice and tidy, as was the case with David and Kat Kaufman. If you suspect your spouse is gay, consider hiring a private investigator to get to the bottom of things so you can begin charting out the next steps.
