What is the Best Way to Find Someone?
Looking for someone can feel like the old fashioned game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. You know they are out there but the mixed messages and dead end leads can make you feel blindfolded and dizzy. There are tricks to the trade, however, and so we thought we would share some tips on the best ways to find someone you are looking for. And, of course, if you get frustrated, or dizzy, enough - you can always call a licensed private investigator to help you along your way!
Trying to Find Someone? Try Social Networking.
Is there anyone that isn't a member of some sort of social network? Try joining every social network you can find in the hopes that the person you are looking for has an account with one of them. Most people are familiar with sites like Facebook or MySpace. But how about joining some of the others like LinkedIn, Pinterest, Classmates.com, Twitter, Google+, Tagged, and MeetUp. Go online to search from some more. You might end up finding the person you're looking for by connecting with someone else who knows them. The degrees of separation can be smaller than you think.
Find My Family? - Try State and County Data Bases
Many people are searching for biological parents. "Find my father", "Find family members," "Find lost family," and "Find my mother" are some of the most common search phrases used in Missing Persons searches. If you know where they were born or married, you can begin to search state and county records to look for birth, marriage, and/or death certificates. These databases can be confusing and sometimes it can get costly. If you aren't able to go in person, you usually have to pay a fee for any document you want a copy of and that can get expensive when people have common names or you find out you didn't find the person you were looking for.
