How Does a Private Investigator Locate People Quickly?

Do you need to locate people? Is there someone out there you want to reconnect with? It can be tempting to start a People Finding Search on your own. The World Wide Web has made it easier than ever to use search engines in order to find information about people, places, and things. Unfortunately, much of that information can be inaccurate, outdated, or will lead you on a wild goose chase. In many cases, our clients decide to hire a private investigator to find someone after they have exhausted their own investigative resources.

So how does a private investigator locate people quickly?

There are multiple reasons why an experienced private investigator will be able to locate people faster than the average individual.

Three Reasons to Hire a Private Investigator to Find Someone or Find Family

At the end of the day, trying to locate people who you have been out of contact with for a while requires three things: patience, access to the right data bases, and expertise.

  1. Patience. A good, experienced, and licensed private investigator has a tremendous amount of patience. Sure, there are cases where you might go online to find someone, and their name or Facebook page jumps right out at you. However, that is a rarity. In other cases, the person you are trying to find has a name that also belongs to a famous author, radio host, TV star, or blogger, etc. In these cases, the famous individual's rankings bombard the pages and pages of search results, which means you have to do a lot of data sorting. In worst case scenarios, the person has such a common name, or lives so far off the internet radar, that you will be not be able to find any information about them online.Even if you do find information, it might be inaccurate and/or outdated. This means you have to follow lead after lead. For people who aren't used to it, or who don't have the time, this becomes incredibly frustrating. Investigators have the patience to sort through things in order to bring you the most accurate information.
  2. Data Access. Not all data bases are created equal. An experienced private investigator has access to professional data bases. From simple people finding procedures, to more complete national criminal background searches, a private investigator will be able to tap into data bases that the you don't have immediate access to. Plus, once we are able to find information about the person you are trying to locate, we will be able to sort through it efficiently to bring the most current and relevant information to the table. In some cases, the investigator might be able to find someone relatively quickly, and provide you with and name, address, place of business, and/or phone number, etc. In others, s/he might need to discuss the information that has turned up. Together, you can work on a plan to contact or approach the individual(s) you're looking for, which brings us to Number 3.
  3. Expertise. As with all things in life, practice makes perfect, right? After years of experience, a private investigator becomes very good as sifting the good information from the bad. For example, there are several companies out there who offer people finding services for free. The problem is that "for free" they will only provide the same type of information you would get online, without their help. For more detailed and accurate information, they will require a fee. Once you have paid, there is no guarantee that the information is accurate. You may have to fork out quite a bit of money, only to receive a pile of paperwork that only an experienced professional can sort through. The pages of printed results can be very confusing for those who don't know how to sort through the myriad of details included. When you hire a private investigator to locate people, or find someone, you can save a lot of time and money getting the answers you need the first time around.
